I think it was ”The Dirty Three” that said it best, in an evocative, purely instrumental composition on their Self titled album in 1995.
Everything’s fucked.
I would say that the whole album deserves your attention especially on a rainy Sunday.
There are no lyrics, but the album will transport you elsewhere.

Curl up with a book, bonus points if that book happens to be “Everything is fucked” by Mark Manson.
It’s the follow up book to “The subtle art of not giving a fuck.”
Again, a wholehearted recommendation, especially for those that do, perhaps a little too much.
Fuck it, there is even a movie version for those that can’t or don’t like reading.
(Or would rather not listen to Australian post rock as a soundtrack.)
Whilst these titles may be a little off putting, the content is a great leveler and somewhat entertaining.
It may be my bias but I found a lot of relatable material and a sense of relief that someone else had similar thoughts.
It may even be a coming of age book where realisations are a little more universal than I had imagined.
Is it a self help book, a business book, a success guide?
Have I become one of those thought leader cult followers,
No.
With everything circulating on Social Media platforms it’s sometimes refreshing to take a breath and call time.
As Timothy Leary famously said in 1966 …”turn on, tune in and drop out.”
And as with many things smart people say, the meaning was lost to those who go on to demonise his work.
In 1983 he set the record straight in his Autobiography.
“Drop out” did not mean.."Get stoned and abandon all constructive activity"
No, "Drop out" suggested an active, selective, graceful process of detachment from involuntary or unconscious commitments.
"Drop Out" meant self-reliance, a discovery of one's singularity, a commitment to mobility, choice, and change.
I guess this was a similar message I got from “The subtle art of not giving a fuck” book.
It’s about having more consciousness about where your fucks are given. Focus your fucks.
Maybe the serenity prayer should be…
(insert preferred monotheistic deity) Grant me the serenity to not give a fuck about the things I cannot change, Courage to give a fuck about the things I can, and Wisdom to know the fucking difference.
That aside, I am only part way through “Everything is fucked”. It does say it is “a book of hope.”
Well, that’s enough fucking about today, I’ll leave you with this wonderful poem from Alexis Dubus (Poet / Comedian).

' mankind survives on fucks supplied...'
It has been a while since I’ve shared any poetry or music, hopefully…I’ll resume normal broadcasting soon.
