Today’s poems are more corporate inspired.
Same proposal, 2 different takes.
A meeting, all professional like, in the office. Thank you for the invite It was fortuitously timed I have a couple of questions about what you have in mind I’m keen to know a little background on how this has evolved but I’d really like to know these things before I get involved what does the future look like what’s the vision that you see then let's look at what and when and how we get from A to B have we thought about the stakeholders, the roles and responsibilities and the relationships between them and there accountabilities is there a consensus and agreement, are they all on board are they committed to the outcome that we will work toward who is ultimately accountable. who here wears the crown who gets to give the go ahead sign this off or shut it down regarding systems and resources and the required administration who negotiates the timeframes for any scope change variation what are their expectations, have their objectives been discussed have we determined what is nice to have and what’s a mandatory must have we framed a scope that incorporates all we must define the outcome they are looking for and how it affects their bottom line what are the key performance indicators that prove we have success have we put a ring around what we will address is there any preconceived idea agenda or design are the requirements unambiguous or should they be refined have we broken down the components and worked out what they do have we looked at the bigger picture, have we taken the wider view have we stripped away the layers, and had a look under the hood do we know how this all fits together, is it clearly understood have we questioned the validity of the data we’ve reviewed? have we considered other options that could’ve been pursued? do we know their metrics, how they are, expecting to perform? the volume of their throughput what do they consider to be the norm? do we understand the variables and their impacts on the flow? do we understand the processes, are there gaps in what we know? do we have estimates of required resources, do we have the skills in place? have we checked availability is there capacity & space? are there subject matter experts we can call upon? is there a commitment to engage for the duration and beyond? are we dealing with contractors, consultants, or some 3rd party integration? what are the rules of engagement and the extent of their participation? and retention of intellectual property is there legal implications? The ongoing management the contractual obligations? Do you have a contingency If this thing happens to derail And some measurable metrics in the milestones Some early indicator that this is set to fail who do we need to keep copy in, who is kept up to date how regularly should we report and what to communicate so with the capital outlay, operational expenditure and costs required to support does the business case stack up is it an accurate report? how quickly can we claw this back, what is the estimated rate of return? Is the forecast an accurate projection, have you considered churn? or the cannibalisation of existing streams and what that means to demand? have we reviewed the product roadmaps and other developments you have planned? do we understand the customer and the problem that this will solve have we assessed the efficiencies and how this will evolve do we understand the markets and where we fit into that space where the value will be added what it supports and what’s replaced so what about the markets, the maturity and saturation? do we understand the portfolio or is this some revelation what's the point of difference, desirability and need Is there a marketing strategy devised for how we will succeed these are things I'd like to know to bring some value add and look at the opportunities in the vision that you had A meeting, after hours, down the pub Let's get down to pins and tacks And so I'm clear with you If you’re not aware, there's gaps in here, I could drive a big truck through Who came up with this steaming turd Whose idea was this? Are you fucken serious? Someone's taking the piss Do you really know what you want Because it's not entirely clear I’ve read it twice and i can’t tell there’s a shit storm brewing here Do you know who this is for Who they are and what they do I’m buggered if I can work it out I hope it’s clear to you It’s not articulated in the document and I can’t read your mind In fact the things I’d normally look for I ‘m struggling to find Have you even spoken to them You know, sat down and had a chat Do they know what you going to deliver them Do you have their thoughts on that? Is anyone pinning their hopes on this Whose skin is in the game If all of this, goes all tit’s up Who is going to take the blame Do you have an inkling of how this may pan out I can see some instant gotcha’s here Road bumps without a doubt These spreadsheets with comparisons and this forecasting chart They do look quite impressive Aesthetically it's art But are the numbers really relevant Based on yesterday I think it's more revealing in the stuff they do not say I’m getting no sense of reality here did someone fudge the books I’m sure someone has made this up based on how this looks Look i don’t want to ridicule I’m sure whoever it was Gave it a shot with what they had And probably deserves applause But someone needs to reign this in Before it is too late Some of the assumptions made in here are clearly out the gate You need to understand every cog That turns in this machine every touch point, every handoff And all the bits that sit between The frequency the speed to be The peak and deepest trough The friction and the pain points The stuff that fucks them off When I looked at your proposal I see ching ching dollar signs I could work for a lifetime here Implementing new designs I’m getting a sense of chaos here But mostly it’s benign Lets pluck the wings of the butterfly And bring things into line I think I’m speaking plainly here I think you understand You ‘ve been given a hospital pass You could certainly do with a hand.
